In all honesty, when writing this print story I became incredibly discouraged to the entire assignment.  I didn’t even know where to begin.  I kept getting stuck because I was not used to that form or style of writing.  I kept rereading the notes we had taken about inverted pyramid, but for some reason my brain just wouldn’t wrap around the upside down style.

I finally just wrote the story like I am used to, which is chronological order.  I then started flipping it around and eventually putting the most important details first and leaving the minor details in the order in which they occurred.

One of the main things I was worried about was switching to another topic.  Not necessarily getting off topic, but just leading the readers away from the main idea of the lead.  Needless to say, I second-guessed myself entirely too much on this assignment.

I am normally confident in my proofreading and editing skills, but not so much in associated press style writing.  I’m working on my confidence level and once I finished this draft, and got some feed back it started to rise.

I now feel like I could more accurately accomplish this assignment if I were given a new topic because I am more familiar with the steps you must take to make a well-organized print story.
